It�s just so much fun trying to figure out how to make things better. My husband and I have traveled a bit and we like to try new things. We often stumble across things that we REALLY like and I generally try to re-create them and then try to make them just a little bit better (sometimes A LOT better!). I always experiment on my family first and of course they almost always like the stuff I make. If I get a good report from the kids, I�ll pack it up and take it to work for the next set of guinea pigs. If they like it, I�m pretty sure I have something special. If I had a dime for every time someone told me �I�ll pay you to make me some of this!� I wouldn�t have to work my day job. What you see here is the result of all that.
This is truly where it all started. For over thirty years, my family and friends have raved about my cornbread. I have finally figured out a way to pass it along without the heat of the oven. It contains yellow corn meal, all purpose wheat flour, levenings and powdered buttermilk.
Most of us southern folk love our corn bread. My former father-in-law crumbled it into a bowl of buttermilk and ate with a spoon. There are, however, other ways to make it special. Add creamed corn and diced pickled japalenos to the batter. Or, blend softened butter with a chipolte pepper and spread over the warm baked bread. Paula Deen, eat your heart out! This is STUPID GOOD!
